FY2024 H-1B Cap Registration

This year’s H-1B cap registration timeline is as follows:

• 2/21/2023: Employers can start to create new H-1B cap registration accounts.

• 3/1/2023: Registration period opens at noon ET.

• 3/17/2023: Registration period closes at noon ET.

• By 3/31/2023: USCIS conducts lotteries and notifies people selected registrants.

• 4/1/2023: H-1B cap filing period begins for those selected in the lotteries.

Employers may register existing employees and prospective hires residing in or outside of the U.S. who are subject to the H-1B annual quota between 3/1/2023 and 3/17/2023, but may not submit duplicate registrations for the same prospective H-1B employee in one fiscal year. If a registration is selected in the lotteries, employers have a 90 day window starting from 4/1/2023 to file an H-1B petition with USCIS. If the H-1B petition is approved by USCIS, the earliest date the prospective H-1B employee may start H-1B employment with the sponsoring employer is 10/1/2023.
